NEW PRODUCT: Miracle Fruit
Katzman Produce works directly with Curtis Mozie, the only farmer in the United States with production of Miracle Fruit. The 'miracle' of the fruit is that after consuming the small berry sized fruit, it makes all acidic flavors taste sweet! The cause of the reaction is a protein called miraculin, which binds with the taste buds and acts as a sweetness inducer when it comes in contact with acids. Fresh lemons or limes taste like lemonade and limeade; you can eat comquats or rhubarb and they taste sweet. Pineapples and strawberries taste like candy.
